INTERNET S@FETY
0n the 23/1/13 Garda Emma who works in the Dundrum Garda
Station, came in to talk to us about cyber bullying, chat rooms & internet
safety.
She gave us lots of information that is very useful. Below is some of the important tips she gave us:
People under the age of 13 should not be let go on to facebook.
You should never give someone your personal information if you don’t know the
person.
If you type something in capital letters then it means you are shouting
at them.
Do not say something to someone that you would not say face to face
because even though you can’t see each other it still hurts their feelings.
You
should always be supervised when going on a computer, ipad etc.
Sometimes when
you log onto certain websites ads might pop up but most of the time they are
not true. If it is too good to be true then it probably is.
Never meet up with someone that you have met
online without checking with your parents first.
Other people can pretend to be different people online, so don’t
assume that they are who they say they are.
If you ever get a message that you
don’t particularly like, DON’T REPLY, TELL SOMEONE & KEEP THE MESSAGE!
These are the rules that Garda Emma told us to follow when we
are on the internet. She said that if we use these rules
when we are online we should be safe!
